Last night, just after our evening tango classes that were just after our noon Spanish classes (only one week here and we’re already into routine…), we decided to try out the local ‘Salseria’ and see how a typical salsa club differs from Lausanne’s ‘Atelier Volant’, and how our “epfl-Carlos” style of dancing blends in the locals. We ended up in a really cool club. This evening happened not to be a salsa-only-disco, but a latino-music concert. The place was the size of a big gym, filled with local teenagers and older people like us. The band was composed mainly of ‘indigenous fauna’ (see a recent Big Bang episode) playing on different kinds of drums, flutes, and local hand-made instruments. The music was a mixture of rock, salsa, bachata, meringue, etc…. Some people remained seated in the bar area, while the rest of the audience danced in front of the stage. In short – a lot of fun!
