What is this country that always pops just next to Switzerland in various dropdown lists in the Internet? There is not much that we can say about Swaziland. We’ve spent in this kingdom only one night, in Manzini, the capital, just 30 km north of Mbabane.
A laidback lifestyle and the polygamy example coming from the top (the current king has already 13 wives and still counting) made it a fertile land for AIDS: 26% of population is believed to be HIV positive! , but some claim the real number might be even up to 40%. This was enough to bring down the life expectancy to 37 years. Thirty seven years! Middle-ages Europe was better!
With such a short lifespan, it is quite surprising that these people seem to have all the time they want – no rush anywhere, just patience and indifference… so different form western world.
One thing is sure. Swaziland is world apart from Switzerland.
